This gold Doppia belongs to a prestigious series struck at the Parma mint from 1784 onward under Ferdinando I di Borbone (1765–1802). Weighing roughly 7.05 g in .890 fine gold, the denomination was valued at four silver ducats and represents a fine issue of the small but wealthy Italian Bourbon duchy. The 1789 date is catalogued as rare, making this an attractive and historically evocative example of late-eighteenth-century Italian coinage on the eve of the revolutionary upheavals that would soon reshape the peninsula.

KM18a; MIR1064/5; Fr.930. c. 7.05 g, .890 gold. VF.
